The Story Behind Song “Sorry Father”

The inspiration for this song came on 11 November afternoon in 2024.

On a cold November afternoon in 2024, I found myself practicing some of my Tai Chi exercises in the backyard of my parent’s home in our small village in Greece.

My father…your father…

My father, a hardworking man with little formal education or spiritual inclination but a wealth of practical wisdom, had made his way in the world through sheer entrepreneurial and determination.

When he saw me standing alone in the yard, focused on my movements, his reaction was sharp and immediate: He made negative, critical remarks about the strange gestures I was making in the open air.

That experience stirred something deep within me. At that moment, I understood why energy-based practices like Tai Chi are often best performed in solitude.

For those who don’t understand

For those who don’t understand, these slow, meditative movements can look strange—even nonsensical. But to those who practice, they’re a pathway to balance, resilience, and profound well-being.

It became clear to me that explaining this to someone with a mindset like my father’s would be difficult.

His world is one of logic, action, and tangible success—things I, too, once valued above all else.

Yet, fate led me down a different path…

How could I explain this to my father—a man who believes in results he can see and touch?

Reflecting on our conversation, I wrote the song “Sorry Father…”

It’s a heartfelt expression of my journey, one that diverged from the path he had envisioned. Where he saw fortune and respect, I found healing and inner peace.

While he dreams of seeing me rise to conventional success, I have come to value a different kind of wealth.—A life of authenticity, feeling, and dreams.

“Sorry Father” speaks to the tension between generations, between practicality and intuition, and between love and misunderstanding.

This song is my way of saying that though I couldn’t follow in his footsteps, my path is just as meaningful.

The road that diverges from those we love… Sorry Father…

In life, we each walk our road, and sometimes that road diverges from those we love.

I dedicate this song “Sorry Father” to my father and to all fathers who may struggle to understand their children’s paths yet love them deeply.

It’s for the fathers who taught us resilience, strength, and the importance of forging our way, even if it sometimes means defying their hopes or expectations.

“Sorry Father” is a tribute to the complex, often unspoken bond between parent and child.—A reminder that, despite our differences, love and respect endure, even when we choose paths they may never fully understand.

❤️❤️❤️ Love You Dad…❤️❤️❤️
