Ares Orphic Hymn Lyrics

Its verses portray the fierce energy of conflict before turning toward a plea for peace and calm. The hymn ultimately asks Ares to leave behind the destructive aspects of war and embrace harmony, joy, and peaceful abundance. These Ares Orphic Hymn lyrics provide a poetic interpretation of the contrasting forces of violence, courage, love, peace, and renewal in Greek mythology.
Ares Orphic Hymn Lyrics
Steadfast, strong, and mighty god,
warlike, who loves the clash and thud.
Invincible one who strikes with might,
bringing death and war’s fierce fight.
Oh mighty Ares, lord of war,
with weapons strong, you seek for more.
Mixed in battles, where blood is shed,
you stir the clash and fill with dread.
End the fight, fierce and wild,
leave the sorrow, calm the riled.
Turn from war’s harsh, cruel embrace,
to Cypris’ love and feast’s bright grace.
Swap your strength for Demeter’s peace,
where joy and youth find sweet release.
Seek the calm that feeds our fear,
bring us happiness, Oh god so near.
