The hymn presents Athena as both a fierce warrior and a source of wisdom, peace, health, and nurturing strength. It recalls her victory over the Gorgon and her power to overcome giants, while also asking for happiness, protection, and well-being. These Athena Orphic Hymn lyrics offer a poetic journey into ancient Greek mythology and the spiritual symbolism surrounding one of Olympus’ most important goddesses.
Athena Orphic Hymn Lyrics
Bright Athena, child of great Zeus,
goddess fair, whose fame we choose.
You stir the roar of battle loud,
brave and fierce, you draw a crowd.
You love your arms, your fiery ways,
ignite the hearts, set souls ablaze.
You killed the Gorgon, fierce and wild,
avoid the bed, yet arts beguiled.
You spark the fight, but also bring
wisdom deep and nurturing.
With sharp sight and radiant fame,
you vanquished giants in your name.
You lead the steeds, your power known,
you drive away the ills we’ve sown.
Goddess bright, with eyes of blue,
bring us peace, joy, and health too.
Hear our pleas, both night and day,
grant us bliss in every way.
